Welcome to The Youth Mentoring Trust website.

Our Trust was established to promote effective youth mentoring opportunities for young New Zealanders and to provide professional development initiatives for individuals and organisations working in youth mentoring.

The particular focus of this website is to showcase what is happening in NZ, so that you can locate useful local information with ease, then follow this up with personal contact. "Countless deeds are done in the name of mentoring" (Pawson 2004). "The key virtue is described as kindness rather than saintliness" (Freedman 1993). Our aim is to join with you in serving this vital community cause.

Guide to Effective Practice in Youth Mentoring - NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE.

Over the last year, the Youth Mentoring Trust has consulted with many in the NZ Youth Mentoring sector to develop and document a "Guide to Effective Practice in Youth Mentoring" for NZ (GYM). We are happy to announce that GYM is now available online for download.

New Trustees

The Youth Mentoring Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of two new trustees to the Board. Frank Solomon and Efeso Colllins joined the Board in August 2007 and together bring a wealth of knowledge in mentoring. For more about Frank and Efeso, see our Trustees page.
