MentorPlus -

Training for individuals already working with young people, who would like to add a Mentoring dimension to this role.  This training would also benefit teachers, mentor coordinators, sports coaches, and managers dealing with younger staff within the workplace. MentorPlus is a four-module programme where attendees will learn key skills in communicating effectively with a young person, managing risk & behaviour when working with a young person, helping a young person to explore their identity and culture, and assisting   personal development. We are confident the skills encompassed in this programme will develop adults to be an effective Mentor, plus have the ability to support a young person through various stages of their development.

During the Communication module we will particularly focus on developing reflective listening skills, motivation and disclosure. In Risk and Behaviour Management we will be looking at challenging and changing behaviour, influencing factors, boundaries and policies. During the Personal Development module we will focus on developing resiliency in a young person and exploring self-efficacy. And in the final module, we will explore how environments, diversity, gender and culture can contribute to the journey of exploring Identity and Culture for a young person. Attendees will be invited to explore their own whakapapa in order to build effective relationships with young people - an essential foundation for this leadership role.

At the conclusion of the four modules, attendees will receive the Foundation Certificate in Youth Mentoring in New Zealand.

Who Should Attend: Mentor Coordinators, Youth Workers, Teachers, Social Workers, Volunteer Mentors, Sports Coaches and anyone working with young people in New Zealand.

We have listed the areas that are available below but we still have one option available in November. And we want to take that last MentorPlus Training module to a region that wants us to come to them!!  We are calling for expressions of interest from those interested in attending MentorPlus over two days in one other region in New Zealand. We will deliver the training in the area where we receive the most interest , so please  get all the programmes in your area to register on our website, and we'll come to you.

Just CLICK HERE and fill in the form, and the region with the most votes wins... we'll bring our trainers to a town near you and save you the cost fo travel. As a small charitable trust ourselves, we are all about working collaboratively, so work together to bring us to your region.
