Mentoring Providers
Big Buddy
Big Buddy is about giving boys without a father figure the chance to grow up with a positive male role model. We match boys aged 7 to 17 with well-screened, everyday good guys from the community—Big Buddies—who volunteer their time to simply show up, spend time, and come back. In just a few hours each week, these consistent friendships help build confidence, self-worth, resilience, and better life choices through support, connection, and the power of showing up.

Overview
Big Buddy is a free, secular mentoring service run by dedicated professionals who recruit and rigorously screen male volunteers from the community to become mentors to boys who don’t have a father in their lives.
We are a registered charity, governed by the Big Buddy Mentoring Trust, and audited annually.
Regions
Auckland, Wellington, Tauranga and Hamilton
About the mentoring
We provide a One 2 One programme for boys 7-13 and a Group mentoring programme for male youth aged 14-17. This programme runs for a year with the expectation that the relationship will be long-term. Mentors meet with the young person weekly to fortnightly.
