Mentoring Providers
Graeme Dingle Foundation: Project K
The Graeme Dingle Foundation (previously Foundation for Youth Development) is a child and youth charity delivering programmes to young Kiwis. Our programmes are offered in over 20 communities across New Zealand every year. Our vision is to transform young lives forever.
One of our programmes is Project K, a school-based programme that aims to improve the psychological, social and physical well-being of youth.

Overview
Project K impacts on a young person at an instrumental time in their lives. It focuses on building self-confidence, life skills and a healthy lifestyle through an array of outdoor activities, challenges, interaction with other young people and a positive relationship with a mentor.
The programme has three main stages, a three-week residential wilderness adventure, non-residential community challenge and in the final stage students are paired with a personal mentor for a minimum of 12 months.

About the mentoring
The age range we mentor is 14 to 16 years old. The mentoring approach is one-on-one in a community-based setting. The expectation is that the mentoring relationship will last 1 year. Mentors meet with the young person fortnightly.
