Mentoring Providers
Lālanga
Lālanga is New Zealand's most innovative wellbeing and education mentoring program for Maori and Pacific learners. Lālanga has been inspired by our Pacific culture and the metaphor Lālanga. We champion, engage, and inspire our students through our specialised events, mentoring program, and digital platform. What sets our mentoring program apart is our Lālanga app. Our digital platform will securely track and measure how each Pacific learner is progressing in the program each week, providing measurable metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program and the progress of each learner.

Overview
Lālanga was created in response to the Ministry of Education's call in November 2020 for Innovative ideas to meet the wellbeing challenges of Māori and Pacific learners, exacerbated by Covid-19. The meaning, principles and cultural values from Lālanga are the foundation of our health and wellbeing mentoring program.

About the mentoring
We mentor Year 12 and 13 students, plus tertiary students from low-decile schools. This is a standalone mentoring programme, and the expectation is that the mentoring relationship will last for more than 2 years. Mentors meet with the young person weekly.
