Mentoring Providers

Otago Youth Wellness Trust (OYWT)

The Otago Youth Wellness Trust (OYWT) is a free community-based service for young people aged 11-18 years with multiple and complex need and who are least likely to access mainstream services for support. The staff are experienced and qualified in a broad range of areas including social work, teaching, occupational therapy, counselling and nursing.

OYWT’s core service is one to one wraparound case management for young people and their families. One of the interventions that they offer is a Volunteer Mentor Programme, which has been successfully running for 15 years.

Overview

The Otago Youth Wellness Trust (OYWT) Mentoring programme is for young people who are receiving support through our wraparound service. The programme aims to decrease risk factors for young people and encourage them to develop to their fullest potential by successfully matching them with a trained adult mentor for a period of approximately 12-months. Mentors are caring compassionate, good listeners and communicators, have good common sense and are prepared to have some fun!
