Mentoring Providers
Presbyterian Support: Family Works
Presbyterian Support delivers a full range of social services throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand, through its Family Works division. The Family Works Buddy Programme supports children's and young people's emotional and social well-being by matching them with carefully selected and trained volunteers in well-supported, meaningful friendships.
Each buddy relationship is unique, built on shared interests, personality, and individual needs, with a strong focus on creating the right match. Young buddies benefit from consistent, positive adult support, encouragement to develop healthy interests and behaviours, time out from responsibilities, and fun, constructive experiences in their community—all while learning to make positive life choices.

Overview
Since 1992, Family Works has supported tamariki, whānau, and individuals by providing access to essential services and advocating for positive social change. Across regions, our support includes social work, counselling, Family Start programmes, parenting and children’s programmes, financial mentoring, and emergency food assistance through foodbanks.
About the mentoring
The age range we mentor is 5 to 11 years old. This is a standalone mentoring programme and the expectation is that the mentoring relationship will last 1 year to 2 years. Mentors meet with the young person weekly or fortnightly face-to-face for 2 hours. There will also be Adult Buddy Supervision monthly with regular coordinator contact.
