Mentoring Providers
The Sowers Trust
The Sowers Trust is an incorporated charitable trust and is the community services arm of Howick Community Church. It was established in 1988 to serve the community of the Howick Ward. We desire to take a wrap-around approach to the services we provide to youth. Collectively, our staff are appropriately skilled in social work, youth work, counselling and occupational therapy. We also utilise a pool of volunteers as and when appropriate.

Overview
Our approach targets both young people and their parents, aiming to create positive change within individuals and families. We achieve this through two core services: mentoring and youth development programs for young people, as well as wraparound care for individuals and families.
Our youth programs help participants better understand themselves and the impact their attitudes and actions have on their school, family, and community. We foster stronger relationships and healthier communities by supporting youth and families.

About the mentoring
The age range we mentor is 8 to 20 years old. The mentoring approach used is one-to-one in a school-based or community-based setting. The mentoring relationship is expected to last 6 months to 1 year. Mentors meet with the young person weekly.
