06 Mar 19
March 2019 update:
You may remember late last year we announced that through ongoing, generous support from The Tindall Foundation, we were creating a brand new workshop on Quality Relationships in Youth Mentoring and we would be bringing this to the regions in 2019.
Over the last couple of months we have been busy finishing plans for this new workshop and we are pleased to report we delivered the first one of these in Auckland last month. The feedback from participants was extremely positive and we are now ready to run further workshops around the country. Check out the schedule for the rest of 2019 and into 2020 here and be sure to make a diary note for when the workshop will be held in your region. Also you can register on-llne now for our next 5 workshops being held in Wellington, Dunedin, Hastings, Gisborne and Christchurch during March, April and May. All the details are listed below.
We are also running a 2 day MentorPlus (Mentoring Skills) public workshop in Auckland late May. Again the details are lsited below.
New workshop on Quality Relationships in Youth Mentoring off to a great start
On 19 February 33 people gathered at the Kohia Centre in Epsom, Auckland for the launch of the 2019 Tindall supported NZYMN Regional Workshops: Sharing the Kaupapa, Quality Relationships in Youth Mentoring.
Facilitator, Rod Baxter, quickly had people on their feet, moving around, being active learners. Rod said he wanted them to have fun, and they did, but underlying it all serious learning was taking place. One participant commented “there was a lot of new content for me to take home and reflect on”. The mixture of theory and practice was appreciated by all those attending. “I am able to apply it to my work” and “Super useful in our line of work” were two evaluation comments that highlight the value of this workshop for those working with young people seeking to build better relationships in the mentoring experience.
The workshop itself is supported by an excellent workbook, that was drawn together after extensive consultation with experienced mentors and Māori/Pasifika advisors. Participants were pleased to take it home because in the words of one person “The workbook is an amazing resource”.
Workshop fee: $35 inclusive GST and booking fee
